Windows history

On November 20, 1985 Microsoft released the first version of Windows. Today, 36 years later, it is the most used desktop operating system in the world.


1975.- Foundation of microsoft
•Bill Gates and Paul Allen founded Microsoft in 1975 with the vision of bringing a personal computer to every home in the world.

1983-1985.-Windows 1.0
•The initial announcement was made in 1983, the code name of the system was "Interface Manager". In the end, the system is called "Windows" because it better describes the "windows" with the information that are the fundamental key of the new operating system.
•After being accused of "smoke peddlers" Microsoft ends development almost two years late and Windows 1.0 sees the light of day.

1987.- Windows 2.0
•On December 9, 1987 Microsoft released Windows 2.0, the first version of Windows to include the control panel. Windows 2.0 has desktop icons, keyboard shortcuts, offers window overlays, and has extended memory.
•It coincided with the arrival of the new graphics applications from Microsoft: Excel and Word for Windows.


1990-1992.- Windows 3.0 and 3.1
•Windows 3.0 hit the market in May 1990, two years later Windows 3.1 was released. Between the 2 versions, they sold more than 10M copies, thus making Microsoft's operating system the most used in the world. With Windows 3.0 came the Program Manager, File Manager, and Print Manager, plus Solitaire, Hearts, and Minesweeper games.

1995.- Windows 95
•With a sales record of more than 7M copies in its first five weeks, Windows 95 released on August 24, 1995 becomes a record in computer history.
•It had built-in support for the Internet, dial-up network connection, and in the 32-bit operating system the Start menu, the taskbar, and the buttons for minimizing, maximizing, and closing windows appear for the first time.

1998.- Windows 98
•On June 25, 1998 Microsoft released Windows 98, this version of the Windows operating system also included Internet Explorer as the default browser. The Quick Launch bar appears for the first time.

2000.- Windows ME
•In September 2000, Microsoft released Windows Millennium Edition (Windows ME). It was a quick project that would serve as a stop between Windows 98 and XP, and it did feel like one. Windows ME was one of the Windows most hated by users, it was highly criticized for its instability and nobody has anything nice to say about it.

2001.- Windows XP
•On October 25, 2001, Microsoft released Windows XP, and although initially it was not received very well because it needed three service packs to stop being criticized for its security flaws, in the end Windows XP became one of the most beloved versions of all times.

2007.- Windows Vista
•It was launched on January 30, 2007 and focused on use in home and office desktops, laptops, tablets and media center equipment.
•This version was not too much succesfull because of som fails.

2009.- Windows 7
•In July 2009, Windows 7 was released. Considered by many to be the best modern version of the operating system, Windows 7 solved the myriad of incompatibilities with all kinds of drivers that were one of the pests of Vista.

2012.- Windows 8 and 8.1
•In 2012 Microsoft introduced Windows 8, after a more than weak reception and with very few users motivated to update a system that they considered
•perfect "if it ain't broke don't fix it", the Redmond company ended up releasing a short time later a kind of update / new version with Windows 8.1. The disappearance of the classic start menu and the full-screen mode of the new modern applications, exploded in the face of the company who since then has been backtracking in all the decisions that users clearly hated.

2010.- Windows 10
•On July 29, 2015, Microsoft released Windows 10, which is the latest version of the Redmond operating system. A version that has a great set of applications, a modern interface and offers great performance and is also multiplatform.
